Am I eligible to apply?
You are eligible to apply for the summer school if you are a registered student at a Swiss or international institution.
Do I need to do research in the field of photonics?
The summer school provides an opportunity to learn about the broad field of photonics with specialized application-focused seminars. The idea is to find connections to your field of interest and see how this could be applied, thus some technical understanding would be preferred to follow the talks but expertise in photonics is not essential.
Is there a limit on number of participants?
We will have a maximum of 30 participants, (up to) ten from outside the ETH domain.
How much does the summer school cost?
The participation fee for the five-day summer school is 250 CHF for Ph.D. students, and 100 CHF for masters students.
How to obtain credits?
To obtain the 2 credits for this summer school, one should prepare a small poster, participate in the sessions with the speakers and contribute to a group project during the time of summer school.
When will I know whether I will participate in the summer school?
We will contact you after the registration deadline to confirm your participation. Please be aware that you can only secure your spot in the summer school by paying the registration fee.
What does that fee cover?
The participation fee covers accommodation and breakfast for students not usually based in EPFL Lausanne; activities and meals as indicated in the program are covered for all participants.
